Referee Crisis - January 04 -

Sky Sports News has learned that football in England is facing a refereeing crisis, with assaults and provocation from amateur players towards officials driving the men and women in black out of the game.”                                      

Over the new year period Sky Sports ran a feature on their news channel highlighting that referees are being driven out of the game by the actions of players and supporters in amateur football. The league has already received notification of one referee’s decision not to officiate in first division matches this season because of the amount of back chat he has received. Most people would agree that our league is a vast improvement on most other leagues across the country and we have received notice from many referee’s that the games they have been thoroughly enjoyable.

We all want to take this league forward, and it is always frustrating to see players taking up the whistle rather than a qualified official. So while we may not always agree with a referee’s decision let’s give them the respect that they deserve and support them rather than berate them.
